Dog: Bearded Collie
Origins: Originated in Scotland as a cattle-herding dog.
Size: Medium to large. Around 53cm tall at the shoulder.
Physical Appearance: Generally a shaggy dog. Has a flat, long-haired top coats all over the body that feels harsh, with a soft and fuzzy undercoat. Hair may be straight or slightly wavy. Floppy ears, tail carried low.
Characteristics: Active, lively, confident, friendly, needs to be kept occupied.
Colors: Shades of gray, black, blue, or brown with or without white markings.
Special Facts: At one point, Bearded Collie was called the “Hairy Mountain Dog!” It is believed to be one of the oldest breeds of herding dog in Scotland, dating from around the 16th century.
